College Hill was designated as Greensboro&#;s first local historic district in It was named to the National Register of Historic Places (PDF) in The district&#;s period of significance is to Most of the neighborhood was built out from the s to s. College Hill&#;s first homes were built in the late s and s adjacent to then-new Greensboro College. &#;Piety Hill&#; was Greensboro&#;s first neighborhood, nicknamed for its proximity to the Methodist-affiliated school and the many clergy members who lived here. Two of the neighborhood&#;s antebellum houses are still standing.
Later, the area came to be called &#;the West End,&#; as it was Greensboro&#;s westernmost neighborhood. It was annexed into the city in Also in , the Normal and Industrial School for White Girls (later the Women&#;s College of the University of North Carolina and now UNCG) opened adjacent to the West End.

INTRODUCTION
This collection focuses on Wafco Mills during the early to mid-twentieth century. Owned and operated by four generations of the Watson family, the company established the first roller mill in Greensboro. It produced flour, corn meal, and later animal feed in its complex at the corner of McGee and Cedar streets. The collection includes blueprints, product bags, correspondence, photographs, and printed materials. Researchers interested in Greensboro businesses or milling operations may find it useful.

What’s Happening at Wafco?
On March 25, , Joy Watson, Karen and Jose conducted a two-hour walk-through at Wafco Mills, identifying violations like clutter and trash while highlighting beautiful spaces, urging owners to follow the Rules and Regulations (revised June ) with a step-by-step guide to tidy up, and emphasizing the importance of community efforts to maintain standards without increasing costs.
The Wafco Mills Board of Directors notifies owners to relocate vehicles from parking pads and the Wafco side of Fulton by April 2, , due to upcoming structural repairs, brick repairs, tree trimming, and removal, warning of potential damage to unmoved cars and citing owners' responsibility to inform tenants per the Association's governing documents.

A fire broke out around 3 a.m. today at Walker Avenue. The house suffered severe damage. Residents Adrienne Everheart and Jeff Wagner were able to escape uninjured, but at least some of their cats didn&#;t make it out.

The fire was contained by Greensboro firefighters, who managed to prevent major damage to the house next door, Walker. Two cars in the driveway of were destroyed, and the electric meter on the house melted in the heat. The lot on the other side of the house is a parking lot for the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, which is across the street.
