Uzi Hitman (Hebrew: עוזי חיטמן; 9 June – 17 October ) was an Israeli singer-songwriter, composer, musician, actor, director and television personality.
Biography
Uzi Hitman was born in Giv'at Shmuel and lived all his life in Ramat Gan. His parents, Holocaust survivors, followed a traditionalist Jewish lifestyle; his father served as a cantor. He and his sibling Chaim, who lives in Ra'anana, attended secular schools. At home they listened to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Enrico Macias and opera along with liturgical and religious songs. When Hitman was 11, his parents gave him his first guitar, which he taught himself to play. When he turned 17, he received a piano from his grandmother. HITMAN, UZI (–), Israeli pop singer-songwriter. Like many of his contemporaries, Hitman started his musical career as a member of an army entertainment troupe. On his release from the idf in , he joined forces with singer Lior Yeini in a program of Hebrew versions of songs made famous by Greek vocalist Mikis Theodorakis. This was followed by a successful duet with Noga Shalem, singing "Little Bird." In Hitman achieved some measure of national prominence – though as a backup artist – when he supported star singer Ilanit in that year's National Song Contest, placing second. It was around this time that Hitman began to become known as a songwriter, writing compositions for such top performers of the time as Avi Toledano, Yizhar Cohen, and Dudu Zakai. The song he wrote for Zakai, "Why Don't the Grownups Learn from the Little Ones," won third place at the Children's Song Contest.
His first big break came in , when he sang Adon Olam together with Oded Ben-Hur at that year's Ḥasidic Song Contest. The song was a smash hit, both in Israel and abroad, and became something of an anthem for Hitman. Later that year he started a fruitful long-term collaboration with singer

Early life
Hitman was born in Givat Shmuel to holocaust-survivor parents; his father was a cantor and his mother was secular. He was raised in a pluralistic environment. In , he received his first guitar and taught himself to play and compose. When he turned 17, he received a piano from his grandmother. In the army he served as a combat soldier and later he joined an army band.
Career
His career began in , when he composed a popular melody for Adon Olam. He became a popular Israeli artist during the s and s. He composed and wrote over songs. His most famous songs include Noladati Lashalom (I Was Born for Peace), Ratziti Sheteda (I Wanted You to Know), Todah (Thank you), Mi yada' sh'kach yihiye (Who Knew It Would Be Like This) and Kan (Here), which reached 3rd place during the Eurovision Song Contest. Hitman also appeared on the s children's programmes Parpar Nehmad and Hopa Hei.
