Bunso sa anim na anak nina Jose Santos, isang abogado, at Amada Pagayon, isang mangaawit, isinilang siyá sa Pasig, Rizal noong 25 Pebrero Ikinasal siyá kay Lourdes Wong at nagkaroon ng dalawang anak na babae. Nagtapos siyá ng elementarya sa Pasig Catholic School; sekundarya sa San Jose Seminary; at bachelor of music, major in composition and conducting sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas noong Nagtapos siyá ng masterado nang may karangalan sa Indiana University noong at doktorado sa State University of New York noong Nag-aral siyá ng komposisyon kasáma sina Hilarion Rubio, Lucio San Pedro, Thomas Beversdorf, Roque Cordero, Ramon Fuller, at William Koethe; ng kontemporaneong musika kasáma sina Istvan Anhalt at George Perle; at ng etnomusikolohiya kasáma si Bruno Nettl.

About Ramon Santos:
Ramon Santos was born on February 25, in Pasig, Philippines. Raised in a musically inclined family, his early exposure to various genres and instruments sparked his passion for music. Coming from a lineage of musicians, Ramon's upbringing played a pivotal role in shaping his artistic sensibilities and deep love for the art form.
Ramon Santos pursued a rigorous and comprehensive education in music. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Music Composition from the University of the Philippines Diliman. Furthering his knowledge and skills, he completed his Master's degree in Composition and Theory from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the United States. Through his academic journey, Ramon honed his craft and developed a unique musical voice that resonates with audiences worldwide.
