Rebbie Jackson, born Maureen Reillette Brown in , is an American singer and the oldest of the Jackson siblings. She was born in Gary, Indiana to Joseph Walter and Katherine Esther Jackson. Her father, a steel mill worker and musician, was not heavily involved in raising the children. Rebbie took on many responsibilities, including caring for her younger siblings.
At the age of 18, Rebbie announced her plans to marry Nathaniel Brown and move to Kentucky. Her father believed she should focus on her music career, like her brothers, who formed the group 'The Jackson 5'. Despite her musical talents, Rebbie had little interest in becoming a singer and dreamt of starting her own life away from her family.
