Joy Doreen Biira was born on 5th September to in Kasese. Kasese is in Rwenzururu Kingdom in Uganda. Her native language is Lukhonzo.
Joy Biira is also a Voice-over Artist, speaker, writer & part-time Editorial Print model. She currently working with KTN KENYA, the lead Television Channel in Kenya that she joined Late December Joy before moving to Kenya worked as a News anchor / Show host on NBS Television and Radio Presenter on Capital Radio Ltd FM in Uganda, and was then among the youngest media personalities in the Anchoring Broadcast specialty of Journalism.

This week on the #KenyaWomenSeries, we feature a media personality, strategic communicator, moderator, speaker and content curator with over ten years of experience in the media industry (TV, Radio, Electronic and Digital Media). She is living her dream of telling stories.
Being a child of two worlds; Kenya and Uganda, she hopes to author a book one day, where she tells her story of growing up in a town in Uganda that was mostly guarded by the military because of its proximity to the Democratic Republic of Congo border.
She describes herself as every woman – charismatic, dreamer and doer, lover of simple things in life. A risk-taker, a family-oriented human, mother of the most fabulous boys in town, spouse, a mentor and believer in God. Others describe her as intelligent, professional, and fun at the same time.

1. Please tell us how did your childhood shape you for a career in the media while highlighting some of your major achievements and the events that have shaped it.

She is a media personality, strategic communicator, moderator, speaker and content curator with more than 10 years of experience in the media industry.
Joy Doreen Biira’s media career spanning more than a decade has seen her work on tv, radio as well as digital media and she says she is living her dream of telling stories.
Biira has both a Kenya and a Uganda heritage and hopes to one day author a book to share her story of growing up in a town in Uganda that was majorly guarded by the military due to the shared border with the volatile Democratic Republic of Congo.
She describes herself as charismatic, dreamer, doer, lover of simple things in life, risk-taker, family-oriented, mother of the fabulous boys, a spouse, a mentor and believer in God.
Those who are close to her describe her as intelligent, professional, and fun at the same time and she says she was brought up to stand up for what she believed in, no matter what.

We understand that Uganda is divided into different Kingdoms. Give us a brief history of these kingdoms and tell us which kingdom you belong to.
Uganda is a beautiful country that among other things preserves her cultural heritage. In Kingdoms were abolished by then President Milton Obote. When President Museveni took power he reinstated kingdoms one at a time. The Kingdom where I hail from is the latest of the reinstated kingdoms – Rwenzururu Kingdom in Western Uganda bordering D.R.C.
Seeing that you hail from a kingdom, are you a princess like Juliana?
By lineage, I’m not a royal. I’m an appointed ambassador of the Rwenzururu kingdom
How is life in Kenya different from life in Uganda?
Uganda and Kenya have got a lot in common but just like identical twins would have different interests, we are different in way of living. Aside from geographical variations, Uganda maybe takes culture to the extremes unlike Kenya. People are welcoming just like they’re here. However let me add that Ugandans love to party.
