Prensa MPPS.- En una casita vieja de palma, con pisos y paredes de tierra en Sabaneta, estado Barinas, nació el 28 de julio de un niño llanero, hijo del matrimonio de Hugo de los Reyes Chávez y Elena de Chávez, un pequeño emprendedor, inteligente, ocurrente y alegre, que se convirtió en el gigante de América, Hugo Chávez Frías.
Su infancia transcurrió en la casa de su abuela materna Rosa Inés, la cual era llamada en Sabaneta como «La negra Inés» y por el comandante Chávez «mamá Inés». Esta mujer le brindó su amor, le enseñó a leer y escribir, también a cosechar maíz, naranja y lechosa donde salía el tradicional dulce arañas que él vendía y que ayudaba a su familia a sustentarse económicamente.
Juventud
Chávez cursó sus estudios de primaria y secundaria en su pueblo natal y se formó en la Academia Militar de Venezuela, en Caracas, de donde egresó con el grado de subteniente en Como dato curioso, el arañero viajó a la ciudad capital no con la idea de hacerse soldado, sino poder convertirse en un beisbolista profesional, pero la Casa de los Sueños Azules reorientó su pasión juvenil hacía otro destino.
