Muhammad Hosni Sayyid Mubarak (born May 4, ) was raised in Kafr-al Meselha as the son of an inspector of the Ministry of Justice. Mubarak was educated at Egypt’s national Military Academy and Air Force Academy and later at the Frunze General Staff Academy in Moscow.
Under Egyptian president Anwar al-Sadat, Mubarak served in a number of military posts, including deputy minister of war from to ; in , he became vice president. After Sadat was assassinated, on October 6, , Mubarak became president. He instituted a vigorous economic recovery program; remained committed to the peace treaty with Israel (signed in ); mended relations with other Arab states, which were damaged after Egypt’s peace with Israel; and initiated a policy he called “positive neutrality” toward the great powers.

Hosni Mubarak has been the leader of Egypt longer than any other ruler since Mubarak has held the position of president since the assassination of Anwar Sadat (–; see entry) in Over the course of his rule, Mubarak has led Egypt back to a position of power within the Arab world. At the same time, he has maintained peace with Israel and to lessen the influence of religious extremism, two accomplishments that have eluded the leaders of other Arab countries in the Middle East. Mubarak was appointed Vice President of Egypt in and assumed the presidency on 14 October , following the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. His almost thirty-year presidency made him Egypt's longest-serving ruler since Muhammad Ali Pasha. Before he entered politics, Mubarak was a career officer in the Egyptian Air Force, serving as its commander from to and rising to the rank of air chief marshal.

Biography of Hosni Mubarak
Hosni Mubarak was born on May 4, , in Egypt. His father was a small landowner and worked as an inspector in the legal department.
Early Career
In , Mubarak graduated with honors from a military college and a year later from the Egyptian Air Force Academy. He then continued his studies in Moscow. Upon returning to Egypt, he commanded squadrons and later a brigade. From to , he served as the chief of Egyptian Air Force bases. During this time, Mubarak participated in the Arab-Israeli wars. In , he became an Air Marshal and the Deputy Minister of Defense.
Political Career
