Elon Lindenstrauss
Elon Lindenstrauss is a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Einstein Institute of Mathematics and the first Israeli to receive the Fields Medal, considered the Nobel Prize of Mathematics, awarded to him in August in Hyderabad, India.
Lindenstrauss was born on August 1, in Jerusalem and is the son of Prof. Joram Lindenstrauss, who also taught at the Einstein Institute and received the Israel Prize for his work. He graduated from the Talpiot program for outstanding students in the Israeli Air Force, is a reserve major in the IDF and a winner of the Israel Defense Prize. He earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics in , his master's degree in mathematics in and his doctorate in mathematics in , all at Hebrew University. He did post-doctoral work at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University and at Stanford University and became a professor at Princeton in He began teaching at Hebrew University's Einstein Institute in
