Αντώνης Σαμαράκης
Ο Αντώνης Σαμαράκης είναι ένας από τους σημαντικότερους και δημοφιλέστερους έλληνες πεζογράφους με διεθνή αναγνώριση. Κορυφαία δημιουργία του το μυθιστόρημα «Το Λάθος» (), το οποίο μεταφέρθηκε στον κινηματογράφο και την τηλεόραση. Το έργο του ανήκει στην πτυχή εκείνη της νεοελληνικής, μεταπολεμικής πεζογραφίας, που έχει ως κύριο στόχο την κοινωνική κριτική και την κοινωνική καταγγελία. Μέσα από τα διηγήματα και τα μυθιστορήματά του, φιλοδόξησε να γίνει «η φωνή αυτών που δεν έχουν φωνή», όπως είχε πει σε μια του συνέντευξη.
Ο Αντώνης Σαμαράκης γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα στις 16 Αυγούστου , γιος του Ευριπίδη Σαμαράκη και της Αδριανής Παντελοπούλου. Φοίτησε στην Βαρβάκειο Σχολή και σπούδασε νομικά στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών ().
Στα γράμματα πρωτοπαρουσιάστηκε τον Νοέμβριο του από τις σελίδες του περιοδικού «Ξεκίνημα» με το ποίημα «Θάνατος» και συνεργάστηκε τα επόμενα χρόνια με τα περιοδικά «Νέα Εστία», «Νεοελληνικά Γράμματα», «Ακτίνες» κ.ά. Antonis Samarakis was born in Athens in For decades he worked as a civil servant at the Ministry of Labour, temporarily resigning during the dictatorship of Ioannis Metaxas (), and during the Second World War he was captured by Nazis and narrowly escaped a death sentence. He published his first collection of short stories, Hope Wanted, in , and his collection I Refuse won the Greek State Prize for the Short Story. Samarakis has become one of the most celebrated Greek prose writers of the second half of the twentieth century, with his work translated into thirty-three languages. He was awarded the Greek Order of the Phoenix and the French Légion d’Honneur. He died in

Antonis Samarakis nació en en Atenas. Tras estudiar Derecho, empezó a trabajar en el Ministerio de Trabajo hasta la dictadura de Ioannis Metaxás. Durante la ocupación alemana de Grecia participó en la resistencia y, por ello, en fue detenido y condenado a muerte por los nazis, aunque logró escapar. Después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial regresó a su antiguo trabajo en el Ministerio y empezó su carrera literaria con el libro de relatos Se busca esperanza (), al que siguió su primera novela, Señal de peligro (). El éxito le llegó con El fallo (), considerada su obra maestra y merecedora del Premio de Novela de los Doce y el Gran Premio Internacional de Literatura Policiaca. el fallo ha sido traducido a treinta y tres idiomas y cuenta también con una versión cinematográfica dirigida por Peter Fleischmann en Fue una novela visionaria de hacia donde se dirigía el país, ya que, dos años después de su publicación, se impuso en Grecia la Dictadura de los Coroneles. Samarakis trabajó como experto en la Organización Internacional del Trabajo en la ONU y en fue nombrado embajador de buena voluntad de UNICEF. Falleció en Pilos en siendo una voz imprescindible de la sociedad griega.
